The Interactive
Illinois Report Card website presents
results of state academic performance tests
for all public schools and districts in
Illinois for the years 1999-2009 in
easy-to-understand graphs and tables. These
academic performance tests include the
Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT),
the Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE),
and the Illinois Alternate Assessment (IAA).
The ISAT covers reading
and mathematics in grades 3 through 8,
science in grades 4 and 7, and writing in
grades 5, 6, 8, and 11. Writing will also be
administered in grade 3 beginning in 2009.
The PSAE assessment
measures the performance of high school
students in grade 11 in reading,
mathematics, writing and science. The PSAE
include three components:
-
ACT assessments of
English, reading, mathematics, writing
and science
-
ISBE-developed
science assessment
-
Two WorkKeys
assessments, Reading for Information and
Applied Mathematics. The WorkKeys
assessments are designed to measure
workplace readiness.
IAA measures the
learning of students with severe cognitive
disabilities for whom participation in the
regular assessments is not appropriate.
Rather than a pencil-and-paper format, the
IAA uses a portfolio of student work
collected over the course of the school
year. Starting in 2006, the IAA portfolio
tests mathematics and reading in grades 3,
5, 6, and 8, and science in grades 4, 7, and
11. In 2007, writing was added in grades 5,
8, 11.
