To: Marissa District #40 Families
Re: Board Approves a Pause to Following Executive Orders

2-9-2022

Tonight's Board meeting began at 7:00 PM, with all members present.

Following a review of Local and State Covid-19 information, including the district's positivity rates, input/feedback information of staff and students, a review of the Temporary Restraining Order information, and the recent position of Governor Pritzker, the Board approved a 'Pause of the Covid-19 Executive Orders, allowing students and staff to choose wearing masks as an option; for students and staff to not have to quarantine when asymptomatic and identified as close contact; and for unvaccinated staff to not have to submit to weekly testing (Pannier/Wiley, 7-0).

The Board tabled action on amending the Return to Learn Plan for consideration at its Regular Meeting on February 22nd, 2022.

The Board Adjourned at 7:47 PM (Wiley/DeMange) with All In Favor.

Please Note the Following:

1)  Students are asked to exercise courtesy, kindness, and compassion towards all other students and staff in the educational environment. Students are also asked to remember to keep a mask on their person when coming to school.

2)  Marissa CUSD schools do have students and/or staff who are immunocompromised and considered high-risk.  With respect to special circumstances such as this, teachers/staff may ask students to wear masks in such settings.  Please encourage your child to be considerate of the health and well-being of others and wear their masks when asked to do.

3)  Parents who wish to ensure their child remain "in-mask" during the school day can communicate that to their child's teacher(s) and/or school office.

4)  Those wearing or not wearing a mask will be provided the same opportunity to learn and work together in a safe and healthy environment.  Concerns of any kind related to harassment must be reported like any other circumstance so that they can be addressed immediately.

5)  School Transportation:  Federal Law requires individuals to wear a mask on school buses.  Please remind your child to carry a mask with them, to wear it during their bus ride and any other circumstances where doing so is requested.

6) Covid-related symptoms: Please continue reporting students who are in need of isolation due to exhibiting symptoms and/or testing positive to Covid-19. Nurse Baker will continue to maintain the district's Covid-related statistics on a weekly basis.

As has been the case since the beginning of this school year, we will continue to provide support necessary to students and staff with the intent of maximizing In-Person Learning.

Sincerely,

Jeff Strieker, Superintendent
